The Urban Resilience.AI Lab
With global pandemics and extreme weather events on the rise, Dr. Ali Mostafavi’s work to make cities more resilient is both timely and important.
In addition, his team at the UrbanResilience.AI Lab study the interface of resilience and equity, to ensure we build a future that protects everyone equally. These are some of the MANY reasons we were excited to help Ali craft a new brand and website that reflect his state-of-the-art research program, his amazing (and rapidly growing!) lab group, and the critical work they are doing to design better cities for all.
We had a blast with this collaboration! By combining the vision from Ali and his team with the skills of our designers, we were able to craft a brand and website that went beyond what we envisioned at the start of the project! The brand is smart and technological, while still grounded in the human side of their work. Take a look below!

Futuristic, dynamic, human
The Urban Resilience.AI Lab brand is futuristic and technology-driven, while still being human-centric. The visual elements in the brand represent the data-driven and network aspects of their work, whereas the imagery and voice emphasize their commitment to equity in urban communities. Explore some of the custom elements we created for the brand!
original logo
Ali loved the city and data aspects of his original lab logo, but wanted an updated design that included the full name of the lab and was easier to interpret. We worked hard to keep what he loved about this logo, and bring something new to the designs.
