Chris Schell: Storytelling that Transcends the Sacred Timeline

  • Registration is limited to League members Zoom link provided via email (map)

Dr. Chris Schell is an urban ecologist, professor, father, and writer. He studies how carnivores adapt to life in cities. In this conversation with League members, Chris will share how he weaves popular cultural references, namely his love of Marvel comics, into every SciComm activity, from formal teaching to high-profile interviews. In addition, he’ll discuss and illustrate how stories and storytelling are the core of successful SciComm.

Using a How-I-Built-This presentation format, Chris will unpack how using these cultural touchstones both connect people with science and demystify often complicated concepts, making the science more accessible, inclusive, and exciting. Bring a beverage for this casual conservation designed to inspire your 2025 project ideas!
